Pricing
Free to acquire, one shared fee
Acquiring Simca is free. A flat fee, the same for every business and every product, would apply only above a profit threshold. No price exists yet and nothing is charged.
Status
Not decided The threshold, the way a business shows it is above it, and what a late fee may stop are not decided. Designed The pricing rules below are decisions in the repository (ADR-0003, ADR-0007, ADR-0008) and a set of tentative owner decisions recorded on 2026-10-04 (ADR-0009). Built (repo) A fee calculator exists as library code, with MOCK numbers only. There is no price table with fees, no order flow, and no way to pay.
The rules, as the repository states them
| Rule | Where | State | In plain words |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acquisition is free | ADR-0007 (D29) | Designed | There is no upfront price. This replaces the earlier buy-once and yearly-fee wording. |
| A fee applies only above a profit threshold | ADR-0002, ADR-0007 | Not decided tentative | Below the threshold nobody pays. The figure is tentative, is not final and is shown only on the quarterly cost page. |
| A flat amount, never a percentage | README, ADR-0008 | Designed | Nothing per sale, per delivery, per driver, per match or as a share of revenue. |
| Charged quarterly | ADR-0008 (confirmed 2026-10-04) | Designed | The threshold is measured per month; the fee is charged per quarter. |
| The same fee for every product, Simca Logistics included | ADR-0003, ADR-0008 | Designed | No free tier by role, no free logistics package, no separate Logistics price. |
| The quarter's published cost, split evenly among the paying members, rounded down | ADR-0008, amended by ADR-0009 | Not decided tentative | The fee starts high when few members share it and falls as members join. There is no launch premium, no surplus, no opening multiple and no per-member ceiling. The earlier "at most ten times the cost" limit was removed. |
| No margin on top of the cost | ADR-0009 (D35) | Not decided tentative | The owner accepts running at cost, plans to compete on price and expects to earn later from adoption. The repository records the risk: with no cushion, costs must stay bounded, and a higher-than-published cost would show as a higher bill next quarter. |
| Owner pay and affiliated-company charges are shown, labelled | ADR-0009 | Built (repo) code, tentative | Cost lines carry a related-party flag and an optional documented basis; they are shown separately and sit inside the split, never on top. The flag is only as honest as the person who sets it. |
| Public donations may appear as labelled lines; private donations never do | ADR-0009 (D40) | Built (repo) code, tentative | A public donation lowers the amount members share. Private donations are never in published data and do not change the fee. How they are treated for tax is open. |
| Billing and lapse | ADR-0009 | Not decided tentative | Billed at the quarter turnover, with until the next turnover to pay. Two notices (with a non-binding estimate) go only to users of the charged services as they approach the threshold. A lapse stops only paid features, updates and online extras; the software stays free and books, sales data and retained records are never locked. Grace and dispute defaults are drafts for a lawyer. |
| Your bill change is computed on your computer | ADR-0008 | Built (repo) | The launcher is meant to say "your bill has dropped X%" from signed quarterly documents it already has. The calculation exists as code; the screen does not. |
| Price documents need two independent signatures | ADR-0008, ADR-0009 | Built (repo) | Enforced in code with test keys. The real key ceremony has not been done and the two custodians (separate legal entities, offline keys) are a tentative design, not a fact. |
| The price table is a placeholder | simca-packaging/pricing | No claim | It has no fees. A final table needs the threshold to be set. |
What this means for a business owner
- If your net profit stays below the threshold you would pay nothing, ever, and selling and your own data are never blocked by a fee.
- Above the threshold you would pay an even share of the community's published costs, with no margin added. The first paying members would carry a large share, and the repository says plainly that there is no per-member ceiling. As more members join, the same flat fee falls for everyone.
- If you did not pay, only the paid features, updates and online extras would stop. The software itself stays free and you could still read and export your books and sales data. Only users of the charged services get billing notices; which services are charged is not decided.
- Recruiting peers (a neighbouring shop, a distributor, a truck driver) lowers the shared price for everyone, including you. That is the reason Simca Logistics is priced like everything else.
- Nothing is reported by the app. How a business shows it is above the threshold without telemetry is open; the recommendation is a signed band file that you choose to send, with no ledger rows in it.
Pricing classes
Every catalog item carries a pricing class: 3,152 items are Standard (same pricing for everyone), 176 are Free (the launcher only) and 107 are Not priced (the packaging engine, the website and policy items that are never in a customer package). See pricing classes.
Still open
- The threshold value, and what counts as profit for a business that keeps no net-profit books (for example some small regimes or an independent driver).
- Grace and dispute lengths (drafts written for a lawyer, not final), the milestone levels and the estimate buffer, and which services are charged. A lapse never blocks access to your own data.
- How a change in price is announced (a lawyer is to advise), whether a runway reserve line is allowed in the cost and how fast the published cost may grow, and how donations are treated in accounts and tax.
- How a fee would be paid by people who deal mostly in cash.
