Roadmap
Decisions: resolved, tentative and open
The repository tracks 34 numbered decisions. These are the ones that matter to a business owner, with their state as the roadmap states it.
Reading note
States are copied from the repository roadmap and are the owner's to change. Decisions about internal engineering (process isolation per platform, contract transport, signature scheme confirmation) are left out here.
| Decision | Question | State | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | Profit threshold value | Tentative. The price table stays a placeholder. | Decides who pays and who does not. |
| D2 / D31 | What counts as profit and how it is shown without telemetry | Definition given; measurement open. A user-initiated signed band attestation is recommended. | Simca has no telemetry, so the company cannot see sales or books. |
| D32 | Fee lapse, grace period and disputes | Behaviour decided (tentative, ADR-0009): a lapse stops only paid features, updates and online extras; the software stays free and books, sales data and retained records are never locked. Grace and dispute lengths are drafts for a lawyer. | What happens if a fee is unpaid. |
| D34 / D35 | Opening multiple and margin on the fee | Removed / resolved (tentative, ADR-0009): the fee is the plain cost split, no multiple, no 10x limit and no margin. | Sets how the fee relates to cost. The repository records the risk: no cushion, so costs must stay bounded. |
| D36 | Notice milestone levels and the non-binding estimate (drafts: 75% and 90% of the threshold) | Estimate wording decided (tentative): the notice figure is labelled estimated and not binding. Still open: the levels, whether an estimate is ever a cap, and the lawyer's check that the wording does not mislead. | Decides when and how a business is warned before it is billed. |
| D37 | Which services are charged and what stays free | Decided (tentative): the point of sale and Simca Logistics. If a business over the threshold does not pay, the paid services (Logistics included) stop. Still open: what else stays free and what happens to a job in progress. | The software itself is free; books and retained records always stay reachable. |
| D38 | Cost bounds without a margin | Reserve line decided (tentative): an optional, nominal rainy-day reserve line, shown openly in the cost, no cap for now. Not decided: a limit on cost growth and publishing an emergency cost shock. | With no margin there is no cushion for a cost that turns out higher. |
| D39 | Who the two key custodians are, and the co-signer conflict | Tentative: Simca and a US-based "Company XXX" (place undecided) that holds the physical key; both are controlled by the owner, so independence is limited. The co-signer conflict is still open. | The second signer must not sign off its own related-party charges. |
| D40 | Donations | Confirmed (tentative): public donations reduce the amount members split and stay visible. Open: accounting and tax treatment. | Private donations never enter published data and never change the fee. |
| D4 | Setting to turn off the launcher's opening request | Recommended and implemented in the library; default to be confirmed. | Lets a user stop even the one disclosed request. |
| D5 | Launcher-less (portable) start of the app | Open. | Running without the launcher would bypass signature checks and update offers. |
| D6 | Online sign-in method | Open. | Needed before Tap to PayCard acceptance on a phone via NFC, through a certified payment-provider SDK. Planned as an adapter; Simca does not read or store card numbers. Glossary, the shared-price counter, referral validation or the Logistics relay can ship. |
| D7 | Hosting for manifests, downloads and mirrors | Open. | Where updates come from. |
| D8 | iOS launcher parity and Apple rules | Open. | Parity is required; Apple rule limits are checked later. |
| D18 | Windows 7 and 8.1 support versus the interface toolkit's Windows 10 floor | Open. | Many shop computers are old. |
| D19 | Tap to Pay provider per country and platform | Open. | Cards are accepted only through a certified provider. |
| D20 | Encryption at rest (SQLCipher) | Open. | Weighs key loss against theft of a shop computer. |
| D21 | First market segment: bodega and retail first, or restaurants first | Open; retail and bodega first is recommended. | Decides what ships first. |
| D22 | Offline key ceremony and custody (two independent signers) | Design recommended, custodian structure tentative (ADR-0009); ceremony not done. | No real price or update can be published without it. |
| D23 | Peru e-invoicing route (direct to SUNATPeru’s national tax authority. Simca’s first fiscal pack targets its electronic documents (planned, not built). Glossary or an authorised provider) | Open. | Legal invoices and waybills. |
| D24 | Closed beta shops: how many, which, consent and feedback channel | Open. | No telemetry, so feedback is in person or on paper. |
| D25 | Support model: channels, languages, hours | Open; Spanish first. | Who answers when something breaks. |
| D26 | Cash rounding policy | Recommended and implemented in the library: round to the 5-centimo step in the customer's favour at cash settlement. | PEN has no 1-centimo coin; to be checked with a compliance advisor. |
| D28 | Retention and deletion wording for removed data | Partly resolved; lawyer and accountant review of the periods and texts is open. | What can be deleted, and when. |
| D29 | Licence terms | Resolved as to terms: acquisition is free, a tentative flat fee above a profit threshold. | Replaces the earlier buy-once wording. |
| D27 / D33 | Launcher route and shell technology | Route resolved (Simca's own launcher, forked); shell technology open. | What the launcher is built with. |
| D3 | Name of the base layer | Resolved: the base layer is simply Simca; the only named sub-products are Simca Packaging and Simca Logistics. | Naming. |
| D9 to D15 | Logistics: board distribution without servers, rating math, GPS opt-in, relay nodes, process isolation, contract transport, neutral dispute helper | Open; some drafted. | How the Logistics board works with no central server. |
